Make small stitched float.
Size small stitched float Get 3/4" thick closed cell foam sheet.

Use paddle to size the float:

Inner width = blade + 1/2",
total width = inner width + 2 1/2"

Length as shown.
Cut 2 Cut top sheet to size.

Use top sheet as template - cut bottom sheet.

Cut-out & Grab ribbon Cut-out at top sheet base.

1 1/2" wide nylon grab handle ribbon through slit.

Reinforcements Bevel top sheet cut-out and corresponding bottom sheet edge.

Use hot-melt glue to reinforce bevels and to attach grab loop.

Cut float mouth spacer wedges from bevel-cut leftovers, glue to bottom sheet.
Drilled & bevelled Use hot-melt glue around side and end edges to attach sheets.

Drill 1/4" dia holes as shown.
Distance between inner edges of holes = Paddle blade width + 1/2"

Bevel rim of float.

Ribbon + Needle 1 Ribbon + Needle 2 Cut 1" wide nylon ribbon for rim stitch.

Make "needle" from soft iron wire, bight at end.

Use hot-melt glue + scissors to form ribbon end.
Float + paddle Attach ribbon end to float with hot-melt glue.

Stitch through holes around rim of float.

Anchor end of ribbon with hot-melt glue.
Float is finished.

Paddle blade in float A properly made stitched float grips blade with a snug fit.

Force needed to push blade in float -
and to pull it out - secures blade -
extra lock by tape or tied line is
not required.
